The Koinonia work and understanding is informed by various research and especially the study commissioned by the National Youth Commission in 2002 entitled, “Youth perceptions of development at the local government level” .The report asserts the following:
- Effective youth development policy, programs and initiatives must be based on an understanding of the realities of young people’s lives.
- The Koinonia intervention is timeous given planned programs from National and Provincial agencies and departments
